“Inspired by the unique characteristics of the King Campus site”
Addressing Seneca College’s desire to increase the range of programs offered and to provide space for an additional 1,450 students, the King Campus Expansion gathers together a broad range of programming to create a vibrant academic and extracurricular hub.
The new facility will provide 25 classrooms, computer labs, specialty labs for training health-care practitioners, a library, learning commons and student study space. The building will also feature a new student area with a multi-purpose athletic and recreation space, gymnasium, fitness centre, informal study areas and event spaces.
The rich and diverse program creates an opportunity to provide gathering spaces of varied scale and character among the programmed elements. These flexible spaces will become highly visible demonstrations of Seneca’s community life where students can interact, organize activities and learn outside of the traditional classroom environment.
Taking advantage of the beautiful Oak Ridges Moraine site, the project will define a new urban landscape for the college. Public spaces, atria, and informal study places connect both physically and visually to new exterior plazas, gardens, and walkways creating impactful connections to the natural environment.
The project is in joint venture with MJMA.
