“Pioneering planning that transforms the care environment”
The Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre is the first of its kind in Canada, offering children and youth with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities leading-edge therapy, treatment, and support. The new four-storey outpatient facility supports over 70,000 clients annually, consolidating Autism Spectrum Disorder services, the Child and Youth Mental Health Program, Developmental Pediatrics, Rehabilitation, Prosthetics, and Orthotics.
A subsidiary of McMaster Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s leading pediatric health care centres, Ron Joyce achieves a strong relationship with the larger health care campus and local community. The new facility is fully accessible and houses important features such as an outdoor wheeling track, therapeutic playground and physiotherapy space. As a whole, the building strives to normalize an otherwise clinical environment, transforming care with a focus on creating friendly, welcoming spaces.
