“Clever planning creates a new, multi-purpose gathering space full of natural light”
Montgomery Sisam has completed two projects for Maurice Cody Public School in order to accomodate a growing student population.
The first project, a two classroom addition, took into account the possible continued expansion of the school. It allowed for future flexibility and the growth of up to six supplemental classrooms. The two classroom addition was completed on an accelerated timeline with construction finished in approximately three months.
The second project involved building a six classroom addition. Clever placement of this addition allowed for the creation of a three-storey multipurpose space. The natural-light filled multipurpose space creates a new hub for the school community and supports a variety of gatherings and events. The addition also includes two purpose-built Kindergarten classrooms and a Childcare classroom. The project scope also creates a new outdoor Kindergarten play area. The design focus was on building natural landscapes and used natural stone steps, armour stone, native trees, and mulch which compliment Maurice Cody's 'Eco-school' status.
