“A new home that reinforces the important relationship between residents and the surrounding community”
Located on a beautiful, treed 10 acre site, Kipling Acres has been providing care to the Etobicoke senior’s community for over 50 years. The original building is currently being replaced by a new, 3 story, 192 resident long term care home that represents today’s best practice in care for the frail elderly.
Owned and operated by the City of Toronto and designed by Montgomery Sisam, the $45 million project is the first phase of redevelopment of an ambitious new Campus of Care for seniors. When fully developed the Campus of Care will provide the community with a variety of accommodations for seniors including seniors independent living, assisted living as well as many other complementary community services. Some notable features of the new long term care home include a community supported Adult Day Program, as well as a 36 space Children’s Daycare Center. Together with the adjacent West Acres Community Centre, these programs share a sun-filled outdoor Intergenerational Garden with the residents, families and staff of Kipling Acres.
Currently under construction, the first phase of redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2013.
