FIRM PROFILE Founded in 1978 Montgomery Sisam Architects is a mid-sized architectural firm based in Toronto. Our firm has developed a reputation for design leadership that is supported by over 40 provincial, national and international awards. We offer our clients unparalleled expertise in healthcare, education and sustainable design and have developed a particular expertise in creating quality environments for people with special needs.
As placemakers, Montgomery Sisam Architects adhere to a high standard of design excellence. We view architecture as the organization of places that shape people’s experiences - places that reflect a rich variety of contexts, users, values and goals. Within our buildings we create a ‘geography’ of meaningful spaces and landmarks that provide supportive environments. For more than 30 years our commitment to design excellence has been rooted in the belief that buildings must play a dignified and lasting role for their occupants and the wider community. Montgomery Sisam has established itself as a leader in the practice of sustainable design, designing the first LEED Platinum Certified building in Eastern Canada and winning the 2006 Green Toronto Award for Green Design for the LEED Silver Certified George and Kathy Dembroski Centre for Horticulture at the Toronto Botanical Garden. Montgomery Sisam has also initiated an in-house program that has resulted in 16 of our design staff becoming LEED Accredited Professionals. We currently have six LEED Gold registered projects and two LEED Silver registered projects in development.
